Shoshone Drive By

I had some business today in Glenwood Springs, so I decided to stop by Shoshone on my way home to look for some other paddlers to hook up with.

Coincidentally, my friend Rick from Paddle Day 14 and Paddle Day 15 had just arrived to take a run down Shoshone as well. We had a good time playing in the features of Shoshone and I was pleased to have perhaps my longest and most successful surf ever on one of the larger play features of Shoshone.

Recently, I have heard this feature referred to as the "One Wave" but it is also called the "All Day Wave" by some. It is a naturally occurring wave that crosses the entire river. There is an eddy river right that can be used to reenter the wave, but it is a challenge to use sometimes depending on water levels.

Today's water level made it a struggle to get out onto the wave because of boulders obstructing the eddy access, but it was worth the effort. I am sure on a later visit I will get some pictures and video of the "One Wave" to add to a future journal entry.
