Shoshone Evening Paddle

After a visit to my dentist in Avon (next to Vail) I stopped in Mountain Quest, a kayak shop in neighboring Edwards. It turns out the locals gather here regularly at least once a week to paddle Shoshone after work.

I was originally planning to go down to Shoshone by myself and try to hook up with whoever showed up to paddle. Instead, I decided to delay my afternoon plans for Shoshone and tag along with the small group departing from Edwards tonight. It turned out to be a good choice.

Lisa, the regular leader of this group, was very helpful in showing me some of the more subtle details and play features of Shoshone.
I feel like Shoshone is a whole new run now with limitless places to play and alternate lines to pursue.
With a good amount of play, we finished the run slightly after sunset but with a little light still remaining in the sky.

Lisa told me about a trip she has planned with two of her other friends. They are planning to kayak the Royal Gorge and The Numbers on the Arkansas River this weekend. These are two epic runs I have heard a lot about but wasn't sure if I was ready for yet.
After watching me kayak in Shoshone, Lisa said she was very comfortable inviting me along.

I think I am going to have an exciting weekend.
